Bates City BBQ is hands down my favorite place to stop when traveling from Omaha to LOTO!!! The food is amazing, the rustic and small town charm is fantastic, and the Staff are just great people. This round I tried the Ham and Beef Sandwich with Slaw. The Brisket was smoked perfectly as always and the Ham was delightful. The Slaw was crisp and had just a little bite to it. My wife got her favorite, Pulled Pork, and it never disappoints. The pork is moist, has great flavor, and just the right amount of smoke. Their fries are also the best around. Homemade,l and fried to perfection. Not too soft, not too crispy, but just right. Highly recommended making the stop and supporting this small business. These are great people, cooking up some amazing food!!

Best Burnt ends I've ever had in my life! Great price and generous portions including sides! Luckily I found this spot after a fuel stop at a nearby truck stop or may have never had the opportunity. I look forward to returning next time I'm even close to the area!

Really good barbecue with a work a day feel to it. Ribs were good. The ham and brisket were outstanding, good smoked taste. Definitely will be back! Worth the trip just for the fries!

This place was AMAZING. Visiting MO, we have tried other BBQ places, and this was the best. You walk in get a tray and let them know what you want. It's like cafeteria style. The staff is super friendly and it's over all clean. Think of like an old town movie that everyone knows eachother..... that's the vibe you get here. I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries, baked beans and potato salad and I recommend all of it. It all hit the spot. The very definition of comfort food.

Passing through the area on a coast to coast drive, I got hungry at just the right time to look up great food in the area. I decided to go with Bates City BBQ. What a great decision that was. The service was quick, the employees where friendly, and the food? In a word, delicious. Well worth your time if you want some KC style BBQ. And it was quite affordable! I absolutely recommend this establishment!

I absolutely loved this place. I was traveling through town, and it turned out to be my lucky day. I had a pulled pork sandwich and fries. It turned out to be my lucky day. I was even able to grab a take home menu for my future trips through town and for catering events. You should try them out.
